During spring, d’Agen plum trees cover their branches with white blossoms, marking the beginning of the production cycle. This stage is key for pollination, which is enhanced by the activity of bees and other pollinators. Stable weather conditions and the absence of late frosts are fundamental to ensure good fruit set.

As summer approaches, the plums begin to develop color and sweetness. The pulp accumulates sugars and the fruit reaches its optimal size, while the skin acquires its characteristic deep purple hue. Proper irrigation and nutrition management at this stage are essential to ensure quality and yield.

When the plums reach the ideal stage of ripeness, harvesting is carried out using mechanized equipment that gently shakes the trees, causing the fruit to fall onto tarps or collection trays. This method optimizes time and costs, reduces losses, and ensures the fruit quickly reaches the drying stage.
At Agrícola Río Peumo, we specialize in growing d’Agen plums destined for dehydration. At the same time, we explore new crops such as almonds, diversifying our production and projecting a sustainable agricultural future.
